TITLE:
Linux Kernel Multiple Security Issues
SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA34614
VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/34614/
DESCRIPTION:
Some security issues have been reported in the Linux Kernel, which
can be exploited by malicious, local users to bypass certain security
restrictions and disclose potentially sensitive information.
1) A security issue is caused due to the "exit_notify()" function in
kernel/exit.c incorrectly checking for the "CAP_KILL" capability.
This can be exploited to bypass other checks by e.g. executing a
setuid application before exiting, resulting in the signal not being
reset to SIGCHLD.
2) Some security issues are caused due to integer overflows within
the "nr_sendmsg()" function in net/netrom/af_netrom.c, the
"rose_sendmsg()" function in net/rose/af_rose.c, and the
"x25_sendmsg()" function in net/x25/af_x25.c. This can be exploited
to disclose potentially sensitive information via an overly large
length value.
SOLUTION:
Fixed in version 2.6.30-rc1.
