TITLE:
Gentoo update for xpdf

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA34610

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/34610/

DESCRIPTION:
Gentoo has acknowledged a security issue in xpdf, which can be
exploited by malicious, local users to gain escalated privileges.

The security issue is caused due to Gentoo's ebuild missing the
SYSTEM_XPDFRC macro, resulting in Xpdf trying to load the "xpdfrc"
configuration file from the current working directory if the
"~/.xpdfrc" file is missing. This can be exploited to e.g. execute
arbitrary shell commands by enticing a user into using Xpdf in a
directory containing a malicious "xpdfrc" file.

SOLUTION:
Update to "app-text/xpdf-3.02-r2" or later.

PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Gentoo credits Erik Wallin.
